II Cor. 4:6 “For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of the darkness,’ made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.”

The light that Christ brought with him into the world was the glory of God the Father in heaven. People couldn’t resist him. Like moths to a flame they were drawn to him. As the light shown forth from him, the light of his words began to take root in the hearts of his disciples. The light of God’s glory, coupled with the light of knowledge is a powerful thing. All of the things Christ came to bring to mankind involved revelation. Light is the ‘great revealer’, uncovering that which was hidden and exposing that which was masked by the shadows. As the light of the world, his closest followers looked to him for guidance like sailors look to the nighttime sky to be guided by the light of the stars. Through him, light was restored in blind eyes. The light of life was brought back into dead bodies. Outcasts once again found themselves able to share the light of day with those in society who had scorned them. In every way we are intended not to be vessels to contain the light, but rather vessels to reflect the light…a beacon on a hill.

Pray: “Father, I need the light of your glory to continue shining in me so that I can become a lighthouse to the lost, a beacon of hope to the weary, and a mirror that shows people the spirit of Jesus within me. May his light fill me, and may the light that shines forth through me reach everyplace you intend. This light, which is your glory, is for your glory both here on earth and in heaven. Praise you, Lord, for your glorious matchless light. In my holy Savior’s name – Amen
