Acts 17:27-28a “His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him—though he is not far from any one of us. For in him we live and move and exist."

When we are ‘in Christ’ we move. We must move if we are to seek after God. Although he is always with us, his Son told us that we are to follow him. This involves movement. Christians were never intended to live stationary, sedentary lives. That is why getting stuck is such a problem. You cannot draw close to God if you cannot move. You cannot take up your cross and follow Christ if you are currently stuck. If you are immobile, you cannot even go the first mile let alone the second. When you are stuck, everything ceases – progress ceases, growth ceases and favor ceases. Not only is your physical journey interrupted, but your spiritual journey toward the Father is also halted; and this is the far more serious of the two problems. Spiritual maturity is what saves you from getting stuck in the future because with maturity comes discernment.  The church was called the ekklesia, the “called out” not the “just planted”.  Blooming where you’re planted is great – but when God is ready to move you into your ‘promised land’, you want to make sure your tires aren’t buried in the desert sand!

Pray: “Holy Lord, I try never to get too comfortable where I am because although I know you want me to be a beacon in the place I am, I also know that you will eventually need me to move so that I can grow, others can grow, and so that I can be used wherever else I am needed. I don’t want to be stuck in the wilderness when my promised land is in sight. I don’t want my spiritual growth hindered because something simple trips me up or causes me to lose traction. Keep my feet, Lord, on the rock that is my Lord and brother and in who’s name I humbly ask this – Amen.”
