1 John 3:21 “Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God.”
It all boils down to what you believe in your heart of hearts. Has Christ’s redemptive work truly washed your sins white as snow, are you truly a new creation in Christ with the old passed away and all things become new, has God truly placed your sins as far as the east is from the west, have you been moved from death into life, from darkness into his glorious light, has Jesus paid the debt for every mistake you ever made or are you still the same person you were before you accepted Jesus? If he saved you, you are the righteousness of God through him. If he did not, then you are still the same person Satan keeps reminding you about. You can’t be both. If you believe you are still the person you were, your heart will condemn you and you cannot stand. But if you believe the saving work of Christ paid it all, then stop looking back at what you were and start looking up to what you are now! The devil stalks about looking for someone whose heart still condemns them to devour, because when he runs across a child of God who knows who they are in Christ he has no choice but to flee!
Pray: “Heavenly Father, today I choose to accept the way you see me, even if I do not yet see myself that way. I know that I need to be covered by the righteousness of my Lord if I am to do as you commanded and stand in the battle. Keep my head from turning back to look at who I was, and help me to become comfortable instead with who I am in you. In Jesus holy and precious name I ask it – Amen.”
