Proverbs 19:21 “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.”

Why does the idea of crystal balls fascinate people so much? Being able to see into the future. Knowing ahead of time what is going to happen would enable us to avoid costly mistakes, to never make a wrong turn, to see how things would turn out. Unfortunately, that view of life belongs only to the Lord. No man knows what tomorrow holds. The unpredictability of life is the very reason why man’s plans almost always will fail or work out other than planned. It is impossible for us to control all of our circumstances. Still, it doesn’t stop us from making plans. James, our Lord’s brother, wrote that the danger in making long range plans is that we don’t know how much life we have (James 4:13-15). The Lord’s plans are not like that. He knows the end from the beginning. His plans are perfect and never fail because he already knows what tomorrow holds. He knows the days allotted to you. He knows all you are capable of. His purpose will stand because he sees time and plans accordingly. What a blessing to know that when we invest our lives in the Lord’s purpose, our time will never be wasted!

Pray: “Father, I know I can trust your plans for me. Like your word, they are perfect and will never fail. I’m not sure what it is that makes me so often want to do things my own way. Whatever it is, today I will make it a goal to try and always come to you to learn what your plan is for my day, for my life. I will not settle, Lord, but rather will accept with gratitude all you have for me. In Jesus name I pray - Amen.”
