Revelations 4:9-10 “And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to him who is seated on the throne, who lives for ever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before him who is seated on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They cast their crowns before the throne…”

In this life, we are told that as we live for Christ and for the purpose of bringing his kingdom to earth, we earn rewards and treasures in heaven. The bible even mentions crowns that we can receive for certain things. In heaven, the apostle John saw 24 “elders”, people whose position placed them above all the other inhabitants of heaven. Even from their exalted places, these faithful saints can be seen repeatedly laying their crowns down at the feet of the throne. Those crowns represent an entire lifetime of service and faithfulness to our heavenly father and they place them in a position beneath his feet. Why? Because crowns honor the wearer and by placing them beneath the feet of our Lord, they express that only God himself deserves the glory, and honor and praise! One day we too will grace the halls of heaven. What will you have to lay at the foot of the throne when the voices of praised are lifted high? What will you have of value to show that you too honored the Lord in this life? It would be a tragedy indeed to live a life blessed by the Father, and when it was over, have nothing to offer the King of Glory.

Pray: “Heavenly Father, if I have lived my life in such a way that the glory has been mine and not yours, please forgive me. I would have nothing, be able to do nothing, be nothing without your blessings and gifts upon my life. You deserve the credit, Lord. Let each day from this day forth be filled with opportunities to give you the glory for all my successes and joys. May your name be the one exalted from my lips at all times, in your Son’s most holy name I pray - Amen.”
