Matthew 24:14 “And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”
Christians all over the world know that our Lord and Savior has promised he will come back for us. Not only will he come back for us, but he will return and set up his reign here on earth! But there is a condition, according to our Lord, that must be met before this ‘end’ is to happen…his word must first be preached and proclaimed throughout the entire world! For us today who know the size and scope of this commission (over 6 billion people in the world), it would seem a daunting task. To the first century church which travelled on foot, spread the word literally by word of mouth, and converted people face to face, it would likely have seemed an impossible task. But in this golden age of information and communication, with the help of the internet, Ipods, Iphones, television/satellites/cable, and instant media around the world, the possibility can become a reality. But simply having the tools to reach the world does not mean the testimony of our Lord will reach the world. There still must be those willing to “go” – willing to ‘share the message’ of the good news of salvation. Before the word can go, God still needs people willing to go.
Pray: Father God, thank you for the wonders of technology. But technology is only a tool. I realize that without people willing to share your good news, having the ability to reach the world is simply wasted. Today, Father, in the place where you have planted me, I am ready to go. I am ready to use the resources you have given us through your inspiration of mankind and through the gifts you have given me personally to share the good news of my blessed Lord. May my courage be sufficient, for your word truly is. In Jesus glorious name I ask it – Amen
