Psalms 37:23 “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives.”
Jesus has many names. In fact, in the Bible there are over 200 names or titles used to refer to him. Some of the ones more common to Christians today are: Savior, Lord, Messiah, Friend, and Healer. But what title or name is broad enough, big enough, encompassing enough to cover the statement ‘He delights in every detail of our lives’? Every detail. There is nothing about our life that is not important to him. Nothing we do, nothing we say, nothing we need that escapes his caring and watchful eye. Only the term ‘love’ is big enough to cover the way he looks at us, the way he cares for us, the way he longs for us. The way a husband sees his bride. He is truly the ‘lover of our souls’. He is a ‘lover’ in the sense that he desires an intimate relationship with you. Intimate does not only mean sexual (as it is usually referenced today) but it also means “essential” and “relating to the deepest part of one’s nature”. That is what our Lord Jesus desires, a relationship that goes to the deepest part of who we are. One that becomes essential to our lives.
Pray: Lord Jesus, my relationship with you is the most essential thing in my life. I want to go deeper, I want to know you intimately. I want to allow you to the very core of who I am. Help me to trust you enough to let you in, to tear down my defenses, and to know you as you know me. I ask this from my heart of hearts in your holy name - Amen.”
