Proverbs 29:18 “Where there is no vision, the people perish.”

Do you know where you are going? What you are doing? Just as people would not dream of setting out on a trip without a destination in mind, so too a life without direction or purpose is destined to flounder in whatever direction the wind or waves choose to take you. The quickest path to the waterfall is to simply allow the current to carry you! After man’s search for identity (Who am I?), perhaps the next most perplexing question is the search for purpose (Why am I here?). The answer to this second question will largely determine your sense of fulfillment in this life. A person without a goal will never achieve anything. A person who wanders aimlessly, without a destination, can never arrive. How you view your life will also have a great impact on the vision you create. If your perspective is limited to your own space and those immediately around you, the scope of your vision will be small. On the other hand, if you see yourself linearly, as having a place in God’s overarching plan for mankind through history, the scope of your vision will be far-reaching. Greater vision leads to greater fulfillment. God’s vision is always greater.

Pray: Lord, I confess I have been living life with too narrow a vision. I know that if I am to follow you, I must have a sense of direction…your direction. My scope has been too small and so my sense of fulfillment has not been all you intended for it to be. Help me to broaden my vision, to expand my sense of purpose, so that I will not squander any opportunity to reach the heights you designed me to reach. In Jesus name I pray - Amen.”
