Galatians 6:9 “Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary.”
One thing that is difficult to gauge with dreams is how long it is going to take. Some dreams may be reached in a few years time while others may be a lifelong pursuit. Regardless of how long it takes for a dream to come about, probably one of the greatest dangers facing people trying to live the dream God has put in their hearts is the desire to quit when things go wrong, we become tired, or, probably the most likely cause, we become impatient. Living in an instant society where things happen at amazing speeds hasn’t exactly cultivated a sense of patience or the character traits of perseverance and long-suffering. When success or gratification is delayed, all too often people will simply quit. God entreats us not to grow weary though, but promises that things will all work out for us if we simply do not lose heart. Even the strongest and most mature Christians can lose heart from time to time. God promises our dreams will become reality, we will reap, if we don’t give up. Nothing worth having ever comes without a price. Will you stay the course and reap your reward, or when fatigue sets in will you simply lie down and quit?
Pray: “Heavenly Father, help me pursue my dream with enthusiasm, not because of what is in it for me, but because you gave it to me. When the path leading to my dream begins to grow long and my old nature begins creeping in, making me feel impatient and unrewarded, thank you for bolstering my heart and reminding me that the road to my dreams is only as long as it needs to be. With your encouragement, Lord, I know I will not give up and one day have my dream. Thank you Jesus for my not having to follow this dream alone…in your powerful name I pray – Amen.
