I Thes. 5:23 “Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Man was created a three-part being. As body, soul and spirit, he walked with God in the Garden of Eden. When man fell, choosing to follow God’s enemy instead of God, he was reduced to a two-part being, having lost the connection to God which is spirit. It was not possible for man after this to come and worship before God. When Jesus came and died for us, he made it possible for man to again be a three-part being, as he is born again in the spirit. With the connection reestablished, we could again worship God in the way he intended. But what do we have to offer an Almighty and holy God? Surely we have nothing he needs. There is only one thing that we can offer him, something that nobody else can give him. Ourselves. But our worship shouldn’t be a piecemeal process, with some parts of us involved and not others. God has given us his best. He has withheld no good thing from those he loves. It is only right, in light of who he is, that we respond in kind, not holding anything back but worshipping him with all that we are.
Pray: “Heavenly Father, when I come before you to worship, I want my body, soul and spirit to all be involved in giving you praise and glory. Just like all of these three combine to make me who I am, if I worship you with any less, then you only have part of me. It is the desire of my heart, today and always, to give you all of me. You are worthy, Lord. Help me to learn how to offer everything I have to everything you are for everything you are, and everything you’ve done. In Jesus precious name I pray – Amen.
