Isaiah 42:16 “And I will lead the blind in a way that they do not know, I will guide them. I will turn the darkness before them into light, the rough places into level ground. These are the things I do, and I do not forsake them.”

Your Heavenly Father isn’t just any shepherd. Although David recognized that God did all the things he knew from his own experiences as a shepherd, God promises to do some things that real shepherds can’t do. First, he tells us that he takes us places that we (and nobody else) knows of. God’s way is too big and too amazing to comprehend. With God the ‘wrong way’ easily turns out to be the ‘right way, short way or best way’! With God as your shepherd, you don’t have to worry about traveling in places where things hide and lurk in the dark because he has promised to be a light that exposes all dangers and threats! With God, even the darkness is light! Lastly, he can smooth out the way for us. The road will never be too grueling, too arduous, or impassable because your shepherd, God, can lay mountains flat, split oceans apart, and remove stumbling blocks from your path. The Lord, your shepherd, said these are the things I do. Not might do or could do. This is what he does. For you. Guiding you as though you were blind into a place you cannot even imagine…the pastures of his home.

Pray: “Lord, there has never been a shepherd like you. There is noone who can care for me the way you do, or do for me the things you do. It is too wonderful for me. When I consider that fact that you will meet all my needs, care for and protect me, and lead me to places that are greater than any other I have ever known, I am humbled and grateful. It is with this grateful heart that I come to you now, my Lord and my shepherd, to say thank you. Not just with the words of my lips but from the depth of my heart. In Jesus name I thank you, Father - Amen.” Attachment

some one in our small group described the same concept this way. "God does not take us through the easiest route, but he does take us through the safest route". Meaning that there will be times of difficulty, but God WILL see us through to the other side of valley

I find it interesting that Reg mentioned on the path through the Valley of the Shadow of Death there are places where the path is only a foot wide. Reminds me of Jesus saying the way to the Father isn't the broad and easy road but the narrow road! Like a careful shepherd, he plans always include every detail! I love our small groups!!
