Hebrews 8:11 “No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.”

Jesus. One of the most polarizing figures in all of history. You could love him, you could hate him, but you couldn’t simply ignore him! The old covenant was given to God’s chosen people – the Jews. It was for them, it was foundational... not the end…merely a beginning. The new covenant, brought by Christ, was for all men – not just the Jews. It was available to any and all who would accept his sacrifice on the cross. Jesus did not die for some but died for all. When Jesus sent his disciples out on their (our) “great commission”, to take the good news of the Gospel to the entire world, it was not to teach who Jesus was but to tell what Jesus did. Christ himself waits for the opportunity to come into an unbeliever’s life and make himself known. It is through the gift of the Holy Spirit that we truly come to know our Savior because it is part of who he is! Remember the meek, scared apostles after Jesus death? Remember the bold, fearless church founders after the day of Pentecost? Under the new covenant, we tell people ‘about’ Jesus, and he will make himself ‘known’! Praise his holy name!

Pray: “Lord Jesus, who am I that I should try and teach people who you are? I myself am still learning and growing in my relationship with you. It would take eternity for the depth and breadth of who you are to be revealed. Each person must get to know you themselves as you choose to reveal yourself. You are different things to each of us but Savior to us all. Thank you, my Lord and my God, for continuing to desire for me to know you even as I am known. In your most holy and glory-worthy name I pray – Amen.”
