Ecclesiastes 3:1 “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:”

God promises us, through the words of the world’s wisest man, that there is indeed a specific time for all things. This should be a sense of great relief to those who are constantly stressed over having enough time for everything. What this verse doesn’t say, however, is that you can do everything at once or have everything you want right now! What this verse does say is that when our life is prioritized properly, all things will have a place. Remember the example with the jar filled with rocks, pebbles, sand and water? All of those things will fit into the jar (there is a time for all the things in your life) if you place them inside in the correct order (right priorities). If you change the order in any way, then something will be left out! Spending our time well (wisely) means we put the rocks (God, family, important relationships) in first. Isn’t it ironic that a society that is always working, struggling and striving to “have it all” actually can…if they only do it God’s way! The reward for our efforts is we will get the most out of the life God has given us.

Prayer: “Heavenly Father, thank you for ensuring that there is time for all things. You are a God who has left nothing out in your great plan for my life. Guide me in ordering and prioritizing my life so that nothing gets left out. Help me to put first things first …in Jesus’ life-giving name I pray - Amen.”
