I Cor. 15:34 “Wake up from your drunken stupor, as is right, and do not go on sinning. For some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame.”

It might be hard for a Christian to imagine that in today’s society there are actually people who have never heard the story of Jesus, people for whom the name has absolutely no meaning whatsoever. With religious debates, talk radio, movies, and everything else, they would have to be living in a bubble, right? Not really. People have an amazing capacity to ignore things they simply have no time for or that they feel have no value. Paul told the church at Corinth they should feel shame that there were people in their midst who had no idea about the gospel! Understanding that we are not responsible for people’s response to Jesus or his story, it is sad to consider we walk this earth every day with a treasure held in our ‘earthen vessels’ (2 Cor. 4:7), the truth of God’s saving power, and we fail to offer it to a world in desperate need of it. You don’t need a bible and a street corner. You don’t need a seminary degree. You don’t need eloquence or the gift of persuasion. You just have to love people enough to share how Christ has changed you. They are all around you. Assume no one knows…and speak!

Pray: “Father God, although I can’t look at someone and know if they know you or not, I can look at every man, woman, and child and know that they need you. Help me to treat every encounter, every conversation as an opportunity to share how you have blessed me. Let those around me who do not know my you and your great love hear your name from my lips first. Let the light within me shine out through my “cracks” - in Jesus name – Amen.”
