Tuesday, June 22, 2010 -- Psalm 91

Psalm 91:2 ”I will say to the Lord, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’”

Even the strongest warriors can find themselves in danger from time to time. Not in need of a cease fire but in need of safety, a place of refuge. For Moses, God was that fortress, that mighty tower that offered safety. What place do you have that you consider safe? Why is that? What about it creates that feeling of safety? Perhaps it is the presence of someone like a father or other strong figure who offers a feeling of security. Perhaps it is the physical characteristics like strong walls or doors with secure locks that offer that feeling of safety. Even powerful people and strong locks can be overcome. For Moses, his trust, his complete trust, was in his God. Why? God had never let him down. God cannot be overcome, God cannot be defeated. God was and still is ever-present. He is available on a moment’s notice 24/7. He has promised to never leave us or forsake us. He has defeated his spiritual enemy, he has put countless armies to rout, he has unlimited provision. Who better to put our trust in? Who better to flee to when the enemy is getting the better of us? God is faithful and deserves our trust.

Pray: “Heavenly Father, Sometimes the enemy and circumstances become too much for me and I need a place of safety to run to. You were that fortress for Moses, and I thank you that your protection and security extends to your children today. Sometimes I just need a place to hide. I will trust you to be that for me, Father. Thank you that the safety you offer is always close. In Jesus’ mighty name, thank you – Amen”
