Psalm 22:1-2”My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, from the words of my groaning?”

Ever have the feeling like God is so far away you just can’t reach him? Or perhaps he is just too busy to address your needs right now? Although we know our Lord Jesus promised to never leave us or forsake us, sometimes it sure does feel like we are going it alone. Maybe it has been a while since you heard his ‘still small voice’. Perhaps the devil has been whispering in your ear that ‘surely if God were around he would see your struggles and do something about them.’ Sometimes troubles must come as a condition of our spiritual growth. It could be simply God is testing your faith to see if you will give up on him when he doesn’t ‘seem’ to be around. When we are faced with a crisis of faith such as this, one of two things will happen, and that single decision will have life-altering consequences. When God seems to have disappeared at the worst possible time, you can either choose to continue the dialogue, calling out to him in faith and trusting in what he has promised in his word, or, you can quit talking and simply walk away, believing the lie that your loving God has abandoned you.

Pray: “Heavenly Father, like a child who always feels safer when their parent is close by, it can be a frightening thing when things are going wrong and you don’t seem to be around. I know your word, and I know what you have promised. Help my believing. Help me to never forget that appearances can be deceiving. The times when you don’t seem to be around are the times you are working behind the scenes to bring about a good end for me. I trust you, Lord, and promise you from my heart I will not walk away but always keep calling out to you. In Jesus’ name – Amen”
