Isaiah 40:30 “Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;”

It is part and parcel of the recklessness of youth that believes strength comes from a bottomless well and sleep is for older people! Weariness takes many forms beside the obvious physical fatigue. Some dreams are not built from a strong back and literal sweat on your brow. Mental weariness can suck the life from a dream as quickly as physical weariness can suck the motivation from the body. Spiritual weariness, which often manifests itself as doubt when everything doesn’t go smoothly or when God’s voice is suddenly or unexpectedly silent, is also a danger. There are times when struggling toward the summit of your climb (the last leg of your journey) may require reserves of strength and perseverance. God knows what you are capable of. If you expend too much at the start of the journey, you may not have enough left when it counts. Pursuing your dream is neither a sprint nor a steeplechase. It is a marathon. It requires patience, determination, conditioning and above all, a steady pace. God has stations along the way where you can get what you need. He’s not holding you back, he’s just making sure when the time comes you’ll be able to finish the race.

Pray: “Heavenly Father, I go into this journey not knowing how long the road might be. I have no fear for where you will lead me, but I need you to watch over me to ensure I don’t burn myself out before reaching the goal you have set before me. Do not allow me to become overconfident, Father, but keep me ever aware that I will only succeed if I don’t become weary or overcome by our enemy. I will rest when you say it is time to rest. I Jesus holy name, Father, thank you – Amen”
