John 1:3-4 “Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.”
As the creator of all that is, there is nobody better to share with his creation all that life is supposed to be. When Jesus left his throne in heaven to come down into the world he created, he came to bring light to a world that was living in darkness about the true meaning of life. When Jesus said “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life”, he was using himself to define the path to God, what was real, and the purpose for man’s existence. Unbeknownst to man, we had been living in the dark about how things were supposed to be. Jesus came to “enlighten” us, to be the light that brings knowledge to the ignorant, that shines a light to guide us, and to expose rumors and lies and distinguish them from the truth. The reason why Jesus wasn’t universally accepted is because this light also chased the shadows from the corners and exposed those things that many would rather have kept hidden in the dark. As Jesus showed us what life was supposed to be, he brought encouragement to some and put others on the defensive. It is the nature of light to draw some and chase others.
Pray: “Father, you sent your Son to be a light in this world. Two thousand years later and we are as in desperate need of his light today as those in his day. Lord I welcome your guidance, your wisdom, and your light in my life. Chase the darkness from within me. To you be the glory…In Jesus mighty name I pray – Amen.”
