John 4:24 “God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
Romans 12:1 “I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.”
When we lived by our body and soul only, our bodies and minds were corrupted by the fallen world which had influenced it from the time we were born. As children of the Most High God, we have a spirit within us that can connect with God in a way no other part of us can. Before our rebirth as the three-part being we were created to be, living a life worthy of presenting to God was near impossible. Walking by our senses and our worldly learning alone, we would always fall far short. But walking under the guidance and strength of God’s Holy Spirit inside of us, we are able to rise above the world in which we were raised and draw near to something worth laying before the Father. As we die to our own selves and commit to following the prompting of the spirit, we begin to change into the image of the one who created us. By showing our commitment to submit to this change, we are acknowledging that God is greater and deserving of the glory. It is for this reason that those who walk by the spirit, by offering their life as a ‘living sacrifice’, are demonstrating true worship.
Pray: “Lord God, I acknowledge you as my creator and Lord. Let the part of me, that is the very image of what you are, lead my body and soul in worshiping you. Help me, by the power of the spirit which you have born inside of me, to live a life worthy of bringing before you. Let the desire of my heart to praise you and give you glory enable me to live a life acceptable in your sight. Lord Jesus help me I pray - Amen”
