INSTRUCTIONS FOR BAPTISM

Clothing
• Pants are recommended. If shorts are worn, they should be knee length.
• Clothing should not display worldly slogans or graphics.
• Under garments should not show though, even when wet. White pants and shirts do not work.
• Water shoes may be worn if desired.
• Be sure to BRING A TOWEL and a change of clothes.

Time of Baptism
During the service you signed up for, baptism will take place as part of the worship service. You will be contacted prior to baptism by our office manager, who will let you know when to arrive and where to get ready.  The baptistry is located up the stairs and to the right. The hallway immediately to your right will be where you line up. A list will be placed on the wall with the order in which you will be baptized.

Procedures for Baptism
• Each person will individually join the minister in the baptistery (The water level is about 40 inches deep).
• The minister will introduce each person and show video if available.
• Standing beside the person, the minister will repeat the following or similar statement: “(Person’s Name), in obedience to the command of Jesus Christ, and because of you have chosen to accept the Lord as your Savior, I baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.”
• The minister will then place his hand at the base of the neck between the shoulders, and lower him/her into the water until the face is slightly under the surface, then slowly raise the person back up.
• The candidate will then be led out of the baptistery to change into dry clothes.

A few additional things:
• Videoing and photography are permitted and even encouraged.
• Baptisms are great opportunities to invite family and friends. Make it a celebration!
