John 8:7 “The law of Moses says to stone her. What do you say?” They were trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him, but Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger. They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up again and said, “All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone!”

Isn’t it amazing that we are so good at recognizing the problems of others and offering them, what seems to us, the obvious solution and yet we appear incapable of recognizing our own shortcomings or solving our own problems! The problem is, most people already know their own issues…and probably better than anyone except God himself. They may very well want desperately to change but lack the knowledge of how, or the will power to sustain or even surety that making a change will be any better than where they are currently. Like we all were, they are hopelessly flawed. What they need is to know God accepts them as they are and where they are. They need to see that acceptance, hear that acceptance, and feel that acceptance from God’s hands and feet in this world…you and I. Some Christians are so busy playing referees in life they forget that they, like the non-believers, are players. We already have a “great coach”, what we need are more players to get in the game! When people see that you are a flawed person who is being changed for the better, then the light of hope will finally begin to dawn.

Pray: “Holy Lord, people don’t need anyone else casting stones at them. Who am I, who is just as flawed as the next and knowing that anything good in me is only a result of your intervention, to point out the flaws or mistakes of others. They know their own failings…they don’t need me to point them out. What they do need is for me to not be condemning because you, my Father, never condemned me. Help me, I pray, to see as you do – past the sin to the person in need. And never let me forget that without you, I too would be where they are…again. In Jesus saving name I lift this prayer – Amen.
