Proverbs 29:18a “Where there is no vision, the people are unrestrained.’”

Diligence without direction is nothing more than potential…and often potential wasted. Without a vision of what God has for you, or where God is directing you to go, you might find yourself “making great time” but going nowhere fast. Before turning the power of diligence loose in your life and before you should expect to see profit from your hard work, you must first define exactly what it is you are working towards. Having a vision prevents you from wasting precious time and energy on things that are fruitless. It keeps you focused and provides a motivation during those times (and those times always come) when you find yourself growing weary. The vision is what you keep ever before you to keep you pressing on. Hebrews 12:2 tells us that “for the joy set before him” Jesus endured the cross. Obviously this was not referring to the joy of crucifixion. Jesus had a vision of the purpose, the reason behind his suffering and death. It enabled him to face the most horrific circumstances with a sense of joy. That is the power of vision! Ask God to clarify his vision for you so that your hard work might be tempered with joy as well!

Pray: “Dear God, I don’t want anything I do for you to be wasted. Help me today to have a clear vision and understanding of what you have for me to do. Whether it be a journey, a ministry, or simply instructions for today, I ask you let none of my efforts return empty but be fruitful to the accomplishing of your will. In Jesus’ name and by his example I ask – Amen.”
