Proverbs 3:26 “for the Lord is your security. He will keep your foot from being caught in a trap.”
Trusting in the Lord is the only sure way to avoid getting stuck. In fact, when we allow him to lead the way, he promises to keep our feet from getting trapped (stuck). Following Christ does not guarantee there will be no trials. However, when you are following him, you can always be assured that the trials are simply part of the journey to where he is taking you. The desert between the Israelites and the Promised Land was there to serve a purpose. They weren’t stuck. They were there to learn dependence on God so that when they reached the Promised Land they would not put their trust in material wealth and things but would continue to fully rely on God. They became stuck because of their own flawed thinking. They failed to trust him. They failed to recognize the trial as part of the journey. Instead, it became an obstacle that only their children would live to overcome. But when you are leading the way, getting stuck is a real possibility. God can always come and rescue you…but wouldn’t it be easier just to let him lead the way? He gave you a road map – it’s called the Bible…use it!
Pray: “Holy Lord, I often forget that I am supposed to be following and not leading in my life. When I have the wheel and get stuck…it is a problem, a delay, it is trouble. When you have the wheel and obstacles come, there is always a reason and purpose behind it. There need be no worry, no anxiousness, because it is obviously part of the plan. I prefer to live with the peace of mind of knowing that you, and you alone, can and will keep my feet from being caught. Lord, take the wheel today and don’t give it back to me. You are my security…and I thank you and love you for it. In Jesus mighty name I claim it – Amen.
