Psalm 18:20-23 “The Lord dealt with me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands he rewarded me. For I have kept the ways of the Lord, and have not wickedly departed from my God. For all his rules were before me, and his statutes I did not put away from me. I was blameless before him, and I kept myself from my guilt.”
We forget sometimes that our Lord is not slack when it comes to rewarding our obedience. Oftentimes people think they are “being good” and when help isn’t immediate they start to wonder if perhaps God wasn’t watching. But our God doesn’t miss anything. He knows where we are in each battle and he knows exactly who has been obedient. Just like we sometimes don’t expect or ask God’s help when we have been disobedient, when we are walking according to his word and his will, we have confidence that God will reward us. But timing is everything and only God sees the big picture. Yes, he will defeat our enemies. Yes, he will give us the victory. These things he has promised. But the timing is all God’s and even when we don’t understand his choice to wait sometimes, we know there is always a reason. It is never a question of if, only a question of when God will deal with our enemies. Our job is to continue in the face of adversity to walk “blameless,” so that when God does give us our victory it will be a testament to those who see it and it will be to his glory.
Pray: “Lord God, help me to be more focused on my obedience day to day then I am on what the enemy is doing. I know that in your time you will deal with those who set themselves against me. My goal is obedience, not to strive for victory over my enemies. That, O’ Lord, is for you to handle. I trust you and trust in the victory won at Calvary by my Lord and Savior in whose precious name I ask you these things - Amen.”
