Matthew 6:33 “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

In our modern world we are always looking for apps that will help us make our life easier, get things done faster or more efficiently, save us time and money. As God works through his children to bring his heavenly kingdom down to earth, he constantly is downloading different things into different people in order to accomplish the many things that need to be done. Unlike computers however, people don’t get automatic updates on the different applications that we run: the giving to the poor app, the going to church app, the reading the Word app, and many others. We become so comfortable running version 1.0 that we neglect to check for newer versions. The problem is, God changes the program and sometimes even the operating system as circumstances change, as we move and grow. If we do not go back to the source, the program that runs all our apps, we become ineffective. Circumstances, like viruses, can creep in and disrupt our systems. Like security programs, we need to constantly check for updates from the God who writes the program for our lives! When we go to him first, we are protected and we are effective!

Pray: “Dearest Father, if I am to be of service to you, if I am to fulfill my part in bringing your kingdom to earth, I must, each day, check in with you, my source, for updates to what I have been called to do. I cannot believe in an ever-changing world the things you have asked me to do simply go on unchanging. Update me, Lord – reveal to me the latest things I need to know. I am dependent on you, Father, for protection and success. In Jesus’ holy name I pray – Amen.”
