Psalm 3:3 “You, O Lord, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.”

It is easy in this world to get lost in what you are doing; to become preoccupied with your day to day routine or the daily struggles at work, at home and with life in general. Sometimes it is easy to become so focused, so intent on worldly things that you neglect to turn your eyes to the one who works behind the scenes sustaining you, directing you, and smoothing the way for you. Other times, circumstances can seem so terrible that you just want to close your eyes and pretend that things aren’t so bad…or hope that when you open them again the problem will have disappeared like some bad dream.  It is at times like these when the gentle, loving hand of our Heavenly Father reaches down and lifts our heads, turning our eyes towards him. He will not suffer us to cower before circumstances but rather will raise our faces that his countenance may shine upon us – imparting his grace and his strength…his hands lifting your chin as if to say ‘We’ve got this…just keep your eyes on me’. When fear or disappointment would have you cast your eyes downward…faith and thanksgiving will draw your gaze heavenward.

Pray: “Holy Lord, thank you for understanding that sometimes it is scary to be me. There are times when I am dejected or worried, when my gaze is upon my feet instead of toward your throne where my hope lies. Thank you, Father, for lifting my head so that the glory of your countenance my fall upon me and your grace might descend and cover me. Let my thanks for all your blessings fill me with such joy that my song of praise may be heard above the storms of life. In Jesus amazing and matchless name I pray – Amen.
