Numbers 14:24 “But because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it.”

Caleb wasn’t any more or any less suited to the task at hand than anyone else. He didn’t have ‘insider information and he was no more certain of the future than all the other leaders who had been sent into the Promised Land. But Caleb trusted the Lord. He was prepared to throw himself completely into the Lord’s plan, not knowing what the days ahead would hold but trusting God to keep his word. Because of Caleb’s faith in the Lord, his descendants would also share in the blessing that his enthusiasm and confidence had won him. The blessings would be handed down from generation to generation. Heading out in search of the dream God has put in our hearts, we should remember it is not just our future that we are walking into. Our children will reap the benefit of our stepping out in faith just as surely as Caleb’s did. Is your spirit like everyone else? Are you sitting in the garage waiting for the anxiety to subside or for some kind of guarantee to arrive? Or did you hear God say “Go!” and now you just can’t wait to get started? We know which one God will reward. Let Caleb be your guide.

Pray: “Dear Lord, help me to have a spirit like Caleb. One that is not only trusting but enthusiastic about what you have planned for me. Let it be enough that you have demonstrated your trustworthiness so that no further ‘guarantees’ are needed. Guide me, Lord Jesus, into putting my whole heart into what God has for me…in your mighty name I ask - Amen.”
