Exodus 3:11 “But Moses said to God, ‘Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?”

Moses knew he wanted to see his people free from bondage. He had seen their suffering firsthand. At one point he even mustered the courage to try and do something about it. His efforts backfired terribly and he found himself not only guilty of murder but banished far from the only home he’d ever known. He would eventually lose himself in a new place and a new life. But though his dream was 40 years removed, all it took was one burning bush to bring it all back. When God told Moses he would be the one to deliver Israel, you can almost hear the devil whispering “You failed the last time, what makes you think you can do it now?”…or “You are going to be God’s spokesman? You can’t even speak right!” Perhaps he hinted that he was too old, or it was too late, or that the people would never follow him. When confronted with a task we believe beyond ourselves, wouldn’t we too say “Why me?” or “Who am I?” God’s dream for you might be more than you think you can handle. Maybe you can’t see it. That’s ok. All you need to do is trust that God knows what he is doing!

Pray: “Heavenly Father, If I could see the future the way you can I know I would be more confident that I can do what it is you want me to do. Sometimes it confuses me and sometimes it scares me because I don’t know how things will all turn out. Help me, Lord, to simply trust that the details are yours to handle and not mine. Help my believing so that when it is time to take that first step, I do so without hesitation. Jesus, thank you for joining me on my journey, in your name I pray to our Father - Amen.”
